Brody's First Game

The Royal's are having a spectacular year.  They are technically still in the hunt for a wild card spot.  It doesn't look promising but still very exciting.  The whole city seems to be excited... considering the second-to-last home game of the year was sold out.  Most people have lost interest by this time in the season.  Brody enjoyed a nap or two during the entire game but it was still fun!  Kamden went to his first game at 7 weeks old.  Brody got to do this just a little earlier - just 15 days old!

Brody's Nursery

I am a little delayed in getting pictures of the nursery posted.  It was 90% complete for weeks but a few things needed some final touches.  When the little guy decided to arrive 2 weeks before his due date, things got put on hold.

I didn't enjoy taking apart my favorite room in the house.  The guest room was re-done last year and I loved the result.  Luckily, the wall color is extremely neutral so I didn't paint.  The colors for the room are dark teal, navy (although it looks black in these photos), and gold.  I got the curtains at target.  They needed to be shortened and the leftover fabric was enough to make the crib skirt and cover for the rocking chair seat.  Thank goodness for a sew-savvy mom! 

 I created a painting for Kamden's nursery so I felt I should do the same for the second child :)

 

 I found this dresser on craigslist.  With a little paint it turned into something fun for the room.

This dresser was in the original guest room.  I just changed the handles be a dark gold color.

I just did an estimate of all the costs and I think it was less than $350.  Including the price of the dresser used as a changing table.  Not bad!

Meet Big Brother

Brody and Kamden met when B was about 2 days old.  Grandma R brought him to the hospital for the big meet!  Kam sported a "No. 1 Bro" shirt that I actually bought the morning I went into labor.  K was a little indifferent about meeting B but he did give him a kiss and a stuffed animal when he started crying.  I am completely OK with the indifference.  It beats obsession and overbearing when dealing with the beginnings of two kids!

Welcome Brody!

Brody Harrison was born September 6th!  We are home from the hospital and are happy & healthy. 

I just got here... and I am already awesome :)

7 lbs, 9oz   -   19.5 inches

 

R Family Reunion

In August the R family from MN came down to KC for our reunion (previous reunions posted in 2012 and 2011).  We were blessed with another really beautiful weather weekend.  The house was open all day and we just played outside without being miserable.

We started a new tradition of an UNO tournament.  It is a great game that even the (older) boys played a part in as well.

For the NE family my mom made Superman capes last summer.  This year, for the MN family she made Batman!  They were a huge hit.  She even made the reversible so that the yellow side had a black "M" for Mizzou or a purple "V" for the Vikings.  Unfortunately, Kam doesn't like to wear it yet... he hates the pulling on his neck.  He will understand how cool they are soon.

H Family Reunion

The last weekend in July we drove to Nebraska for the annual H family reunion.  It is one of the coolest places in the world for a little boy with all the tractors, trucks, buggies, 4 wheelers, and wagons.  Kamden was in heaven! 

The weekend started with dinner and playing at Great Grandma's Farm.  She still has all kinds of toys that I played with as a toddler and even some that my mom and aunts played with when they were kids, too.

The next day, we played out at Aunt J & Uncle D's house.  It was insanely chilly for July.  Everyone had jackets on most of the day (except this pregnant girl!).  Uncle D built an amazing 3-story castle for his grandkids.  It was so fun!

This was the second year we stayed at a hunting lodge in town.  It is perfect for our family - we basically rent out the entire place for the weekend.  There are a number of bedrooms on one side of the property with a living space in the middle and an industrial kitchen and large eating area on the other end.  It is great to be able to all stay in the same place but still have plenty of space and separation for different sleeping/napping/late night schedules.
